Man, I messed up my favorite 7-iron the other day. Hit a rock hiding in the rough, and now the shaft has a nasty bend. I was bummed, thinking I’d have to shell out for a new one, which I really didn’t want to do. This club and I have history! So, I started thinking, maybe I could get it fixed.
First, I searched online, like what the heck people used to do before the Internet, I don’t know. Anyway, I typed in “golf club repairs near me” and got a bunch of results. Some were for big golf stores, others were for smaller, local places.
I started to read some reviews. A few places had some real horror stories in the comments, like clubs getting lost or repairs taking forever, which is a no-go for me. I need my clubs back fast, you know? There were a few results mentioning a 5-7 business day turnaround, which seemed pretty standard and reasonable. One even said they’d tell me upfront if it would take longer, which I appreciate.
Then, I called a couple of shops that had good reviews and were close to me. One was called “The Golf Guys,” and they sounded legit. The guy I talked to seemed to know what he was talking about, and he said they do all kinds of repairs, like re-gripping and adjusting the loft and lie. Decision Time
After comparing, I decided to go with “The Golf Guys.” They were close, had good reviews, and the guy on the phone sounded like he knew his stuff. I took my busted 7-iron in, and they took a look. They said they could definitely fix the shaft, and it would take about a week.
Fingers crossed! I’m hoping they do a good job, and I can get back to using my favorite club. I think restoring a vintage club has its charm and might even improve its performance. It will surely be a nice feeling to keep playing with a club that’s been with me for so long. I’ll update you guys when I get it back!
