Well, let me tell ya ’bout this Walker School football team in Georgia. It’s a bunch of young’uns runnin’ around, throwin’ a ball and smackin’ into each other. Don’t rightly know all the fancy rules, but they sure do make a ruckus.
The Walker School Football: Them Young’uns and Their Game
Now, this Walker School, they got themselves a football team. They call ’em the Wolverines. Sounds fierce, don’t it? Like a bunch of wild animals tearin’ through the woods. I reckon they play pretty good too, ’cause I hear tell they been winnin’ some games.
- They got a whole mess of boys on the team, a varsity squad they call it.
- Heard they been breakin’ some records this year. Six of ’em, so they say. Don’t know what records, but it sounds important.
- They play other schools around here, in Georgia. Marietta, that’s where they’re at.
This year, they started off strong, winnin’ three games right off the bat. Then they lost one, but that’s alright, happens to the best of ’em. Even my prize-winning rooster lost a fight once. But them Wolverines, they bounced right back. Heard they’re headin’ to some kinda championship game. Big deal, that is.
Now, I don’t understand all this talk about 3A-A and private schools and playoffs. Sounds like a bunch of mumbo jumbo to me. All I know is, them boys are playin’ football and they’re playin’ it good. They winnin’, and that’s what matters, right? Folks get all worked up about these games. Cheerin’ and hollerin’ and wearin’ them funny colors. It’s somethin’ else, let me tell ya.
This Walker School, they got a whole athletic department. Means they got more than just football. Other sports too. But we’re talkin’ ’bout football now, ain’t we? So, let’s stick to that. Them Wolverines, they got a schedule, you know. Games they gotta play. Folks can go watch ’em, if they want. Cheer ’em on. Or just sit and eat popcorn. That’s what I’d do.
They got this place, 700 Cobb Parkway North in Marietta. That’s where they play. Big field, lines all over it. And them boys runnin’ back and forth, tryin’ to get that ball across the line. Sometimes they do, sometimes they don’t. That’s the game, I guess.

Now, Georgia, they love their football. High school, college, pros, don’t matter. They just love it. And this Walker School team, they’re part of that. They representin’ their school, their town, maybe even the whole state. That’s a lot of pressure for a bunch of young’uns, if you ask me. But they seem to handle it alright.
Heard tell they got a good coach too. Someone to tell ’em what to do, how to play. That’s important. Can’t just be runnin’ around like chickens with their heads cut off. Gotta have some direction, some strategy. Like bakin’ a good pie, you gotta have a recipe, gotta know what you’re doin’.
So, this Walker School football team, they’re a big deal around here. They’re winnin’ games, breakin’ records, and makin’ folks proud. And that’s somethin’ to crow about, ain’t it? I reckon they’ll keep on playin’ hard, keep on winnin’. And we’ll keep on watchin’ ’em, cheeering’ ’em on. Go Wolverines, I say! Even though I don’t rightly know what a Wolverine is.

That’s enough for me. But them Wolverines, they’re somethin’ special, that’s for sure. Georgia football, it’s a whole different world.
More Than Just a Game
It ain’t just about the game, though. It’s about the community, the school spirit. Folks gettin’ together, sharin’ somethin’. That’s important. In these times, we need more of that, I reckon. Less fightin’ and more cheerin’. Less arguin’ and more football. That’s my philosophy, anyway. And them Wolverines, they’re helpin’ bring folks together. One touchdown at a time.
So, if you’re ever in Marietta, Georgia, and you hear a bunch of hollerin’ and cheerin’, chances are it’s them Wolverines playin’ football. Go on and take a look. You might just get caught up in the excitement. And even if you don’t understand all the rules, you’ll understand the spirit of it. The passion, the competition, the joy of winnin’. That’s somethin’ we can all appreciate. The Walker School Football, it’s a Georgia thing. And it’s a good thing.
